Michael Ligocki of Poland won the first halfpipe contest of his World Cup snowboarding career Sunday, and Holly Crawford of Australia claimed her second victory. Ligocki scored 40.7 points, with Roger Kleivdal of Norway second with 37.2 and Patrick Burgener of Switzerland third with 37.0. Teddy Tamgho of France has set a world record of 58 feet, 8 3/4 inches to win the triple jump at the world indoor championships.

At 20, Teddy Tamgho already was something of a triple jump historian. Now, he is part of it. The Frenchman set a world record of 17.90 meters to win the world indoor championships in his spectacular last jump of the last event of the three-day competition. He turned silver into gold and overcame Yoandris Betanzos, whose 17.69 gave him silver.
Isinbayeva fails to win medal at world indoors
Pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva came into the world indoor championships talking up yet another world record, but she left without a medal after another collapse that raises fresh doubts about her future. The 27-year-old Russian, who holds the world record at 5 meters and has broken the indoor and outdoor marks 27 times, couldn't manage 4.75 meters Sunday and finished fourth.
